The Heroes of New is a contemporary take on the archetypical heroes of old: Stories that have been moulded throughout human history contain old lessons of the human experience and are the building stones of our world today. The story of Saint George slaying the dragon and rewarded by the princess, have been retold countless times and is the story of facing one’s fears and reaping the rewards. The show consists of 10 pieces that portrays archetypical characters from history, mythology and popular culture in a new guise inspired by fashion, video games and sports. They come together as heroic figures like the celebrities and influencers of today. Each artwork uses the composition of a renaissance painting to show off the digital craftmanship required for each piece which is rendered in a hyper-real style.
